I’ve been a bit paint crazy lately. The barn, the girls’ apartment, my bedroom, my laundry room. Chip, my husband, just doesn’t get why I’m so into it (or see the value of $85/gallon paint vs. $30/gallon paint). But, frankly, I’ve become obsessed.
It should also be noted that we live in a 1898 farmhouse with some pretty spectacular wood trim that I’ve been itching to paint for 10 years. Chip is completely opposed. So I offer the following evidence of the positive power of paint. (from CuriousDetails.com blog)

AFTER: Add a little paint, and you've got WOW! I particularly love the contrast of the deep, rich blue doors against the clean white office space beyond. An inspired choice.

AFTER: The amazing power of simple white paint. Wouldn't you love entering this office space each day?
Also note that by using the built-ins within arms' reach of the desk, a smaller desk became practical - allowing for the comfort of the pair of chairs in the room.
I hope this gives you some inspiration (it gave me loads!), and perhaps some ammunition as you carry on the to-paint-or-not-to-paint debate with your other half.
Thanks for reading!

Very nice, love the dark blue and white contrast, so clean and restful while bright. While the wood look is warm it’s a bit overwhelming to me. I’m always wanting to paint things tho, plain wood, yuk, boring, lol The room with navy blue/white makes me want to go in there to work like crazy. When I paint things I feel like they’re cleaner, go figure. Good luck with your quest to paint that lovely old trim.
I agree! I wouldn’t want to leave that room till the light left it! Virginia Crum Chartreuse & co

Absolutely gorgeous. I so much prefer older buildings, much more charm, then the new property being built today. you have done a fantastic job. I especially love the 2nd pic, the room with the dark trim doors and the white. You’ve inspired me to start painting, something I’ve been meaning to do for the last 2 years! Lovely blog.
I agree, Maylana. The deep blue framing of those doors make the crisp white even prettier. Definitely take the time to see if there’s a Farrow & Ball distributor in your area. I’ve fallen in love with their paints, and the colors are the absolute best!
I will be looking to see if paints are available in my area. I also need something that will make what I already have popped. Thanks for the info.
Beautiful room; yes–I would love to enter that room seeing the pretty white transformation. I do need this inspiration (my dining room is dark most part of the day–want to paint the wood table and chairs white–it would be dramatic but effective–I should just do it!
Sounds beautiful!
